Catherine the Great
A woman who only needed herself to succeed
Catherine the great of Russia was born April 21 1729. She was German-born empress of Russia she led her country to interest and participation in the political and cultural life of Europe and helped extend Russian territory. She proved herself to be an ambitious leader for her Country and other women involved in politics. For example, in the article titled Catherine ll from Encyclopedia Britannica it states “..she led the regiments that had railed to her cause into St. Petersburg and had herself proclaimed empress and autocrat in the Kazan Cathedral.” This proves she was ambitious and she didn’t need anyone's help and led the regiments by herself without anyones help to do so. This matters because she was able to have herself proclaimed as empress because she knew she had the power of a true leader. Another example from the text in article 3 is “she was most renowned and the longest-ruling female leader of Russia..” This matters because she ruled and helped lead her country to victories for a long period of time with her own help. Catherine the Great was a very ambitious leader because she was independent and was one of the longest ruling female leaders of Russia.
